“A Change of Seasons”
You crept upon us slow
The dangers you held below
And fear you would produce
There is no way we could have known
While others vacationed and rode boats
We were fighting from every front
But when asked we showed that “it’s all good” smile
Yet, inside we were barely living afloat
Summer was a time for love and adventure
Escapades and sweet surrender
Not doctors, fluids and pills
A lack of appetite, sleep and dizzy spills
But now a new season is coming
Our breath and strength restored
The horizon is clear and the sun is shining
For we victoriously ran at the roar
Battle wounds only remain
To remind us of the strength we gained
Mat carriers and an army of love
Are to be thanked for going far and above
God tests us to the brink
Knowing we will overcome
Oh the stories we shall tell
One day when this season is over and done
