Broke Through 2022
Wow. If I knew in January what all this year would hold for me, I don’t know that I would believe it. All I can say is, God is so good.
Part III: I Closed the Book
Well this ending wasn’t planned, but are they ever? Thank you for coming on this journey with me. It may not have been life changing for you, but it was for me.
The Last Word
Don’t be fooled by my silence when you leave. I simply understand and respect words more than you do, so when I get around to saying my peace just remember a words girl always gets the last one and sometimes it rhymes.
The Boomstick Holder Philosophy
It’s a role that everyone at some point will hold, while others have a clear calling towards it. Whatever you do, don’t underestimate the power of the Boomstick Holder.
Hand in Hand
I can be accused of living in my own world, but I think people miss the little miracles that happen daily, especially the unexpected ones. Next time say yes, reach out a hand, and jump.
“A Girl’s Game”
I have an alter ego sometimes when I write. I call her Cherry Bomb. She’s real, raw and doesn’t hold back her thoughts or opinions. She’s the person who says what we all want to say at different times, she just makes it rhyme. This is the response to my other poem “Boys Lie.”
Part II- “The Low”
I didn’t deserve the grace, but He gave it anyways. I was still on the roller coaster of lies and manipulation, but was extended a life line. Who knew that opportunity would lead to my rise.
“Game Over”
I’ve seen and said nothing. I’ve participated in the scheme. I’ve brushed off the uncomfortable touches. I’ve ignored the advances. I’ve let it be okay, but no more.
“Undestined”
A broken heart is one of the most painful experiences we endure in life. It’s like a hidden scar that stays with you even after the pain is gone. Some people never fully recover, while others bury it quickly. Either way people are shaped by it.
“Falling”
I have been asked multiple times why do I still love so fiercely after all I have been through. How have I not been harden by the pain of it? To me love is the greatest gift a person can experience and there is nothing quite like it. I will always believe in its power and its hope.
Clear Vision
Every year I choose a word of focus for the year that is about to begin. “Vision” was my word for 2020. I had no idea in December of 2019 how far this prophetic word would take me over the course of this last year, and contrary to popular opinion I didn’t hate 2020.
Forever Your Biggest Fan
The older I get the more I realize which pieces of my parents I am. The parent/child relationship has to change before the child can really understand who their parents are and what they have passed down. This one’s for you dad.
The Goodbye Letter
Have you ever wrote a goodbye letter, but never sent it? Sometimes the closure you need comes without a response from the person you want it from. Yet, somehow writing it all out helps your heart to mend.
Dear 2020 Self
In a year where nothing went as expected or as planned, many would like to call it a loss or request a do over. However, when I look back I am incredibly proud of where this year took me.
“Over and Over”
This song is the perfect reminder that I am forever and always chosen. Through all the mistakes I’ve made, all the times I’ve turned the other way, He still wants me! When you are looking for someone to choose you, remember He already has.
“New Girl”
You have a choice. You can become what they say you are or you become who you are. It’s okay to restart and become you again.
