The Scarlet Letter Pt.1
An affair never happens without the background and pre-work of what lead to it. Scarred and conforming to all the people around me, I searched for approval in the wrong ways. Where it landed me was on the worst emotional roller coaster that ended with life’s greatest blessing.
“Motherhood”
No one really can prepare you. I thought I was ready, but no one is really ready to be responsible for another human being every single day. I am beyond blessed by her grace and ability to teach me something new every step of the way.
“Not Your Label”
Don’t put me in that box, don’t assume you know me by my past actions, and don’t think I need rescuing. I am pursuing my fairy tale ending, on my terms.
“A Change of Seasons”
I wanted nothing more than a change of seasons to bring a less painful life, so I wrote the season I prayed would come.
“All in the Eyes”
Every time I am asked what I notice first about people the answer is always, the eyes. I grew up being called Doe Eyes and have learned that people can’t hide what the eyes reveal. Some do their best to mask it but the truth is always there is you pay attention.
“Break This Down”
Look, I love a song with some good lyrics. I don’t discriminate on the genre even if its audience is meant for teens and children. If there is meaning that resonates with me in the words I am all for it.
Writing Saved My Life
The chapter your life is currently in is not the entire story. Writing has allowed me to continue my story. It saved me when I had no one else to turn to, and has allowed my creativity to be ignited again.
“Snowflake”
Every snowflake is unique, never to be duplicated. They melt at your touch and chill you to the bone. They are the perfectly imperfect juxtaposition and pure magic.
“Champions”
You never reach your dreams on your own. It’s the support and belief from others that pushes you to keep going. This is a simple thank you to the real champions so sacrifice for your victory.
Growing Pains
We were in the car on the way home from picking her up. She was happy singing along to the music, when she asked a question. It should have never crossed her mind, yet it was already on her heart.
Hi, I’m Jess!
Some where between 8 and now I found myself chasing dreams that weren’t mine. I got lost in between the yes and the amen. Yet, everyday I was still writing. It has always been my outlet and for years it was my lifeline. Today and forever forward, I am sharing the stories with you.
