The Lost Love

A broken heart is one of the most painful experiences we endure in life. It’s like a hidden scar that stays with you even after the pain is gone. Some people never fully recover, while others bury it quickly. Either way people are shaped by it.

The horrific ringing in my head

Must be from the shattering of my heart 

As I lay and feel my world falling apart 

Why do I give them the best of me

My time, soul and energy

Now here I am left feeling empty

I believed every word you spoke

Yet you were the same as all that came before

You played me a fool and thought it was a joke

Soulmates is what I thought we were

A chance meeting, out of the blue 

Little did I know, I was one of a few

So I’ll cry to myself in the night

Cause you don’t deserve my tears in the light 

I’ll act like you meant nothing to me

But my heart thought we were destined to be
